What is Cervical Spondylosis?

Cervical spondylosis is age-related wear and tear (degeneration) of the cervical spine – affecting the discs, vertebrae, and joints in the neck. It is extremely common, affecting more than 85% of people over 60. While often asymptomatic, it can cause neck pain, stiffness, and neurological symptoms. Dr Simranjeet Singh at Dashvanth Healthcare Delhi provides expert cervical spondylosis management.

Symptoms

  • Neck pain and stiffness – worse with prolonged sitting or computer work
  • Headaches – starting from the back of the neck
  • Radiculopathy: Pain, numbness, tingling radiating into the arm and fingers
  • Cervical Myelopathy: Spinal cord compression causing hand clumsiness, difficulty walking, bladder issues

Risk Factors

  • Prolonged computer/mobile phone use (forward neck posture)
  • Prior neck injury
  • Occupations requiring sustained neck positions (surgeons, dentists)
