Typhoid Testing in Delhi
Typhoid fever remains common in Delhi. At Dashvanth Healthcare Delhi we offer: Blood Culture (gold standard, 70–90% sensitivity, must take before antibiotics), Widal Test (significant titre: O ≥1:160, H ≥1:160, but false positives common in endemic areas), Typhidot/IgM ELISA (more specific than Widal, 2–3 hours).
Symptoms of Typhoid
- Stepwise rising fever over 1–2 weeks
- Relative bradycardia
- Rose spots on abdomen
- Headache, constipation or diarrhoea
Treatment
- Ceftriaxone or Azithromycin for drug-resistant strains
- Fluoroquinolones – resistance increasing
