Oral Health – The Window to Overall Health
Poor dental health is linked to heart disease, diabetes, pregnancy complications, and respiratory infections. Yet dental care is often neglected in Delhi due to fear and cost concerns. At Dashvanth Healthcare Delhi, we emphasise oral health as part of whole-person care.
Essential Dental Care Practices
Brushing
- Brush twice daily – morning and before bed
- Use fluoride toothpaste (at least 1000 ppm fluoride)
- Brush for 2 minutes with soft bristle brush
- Use gentle circular motions, not harsh scrubbing
- Include tongue brushing to reduce bacteria
Flossing
Floss at least once daily. Removes plaque from between teeth where brushing can’t reach. Use floss picks or water flosser if regular floss is difficult.
Diet for Healthy Teeth
- Limit sugary foods and drinks (especially sticky sweets)
- Reduce frequency of acidic drinks (cola, lemon juice)
- Drink water after meals
- Calcium-rich foods: dairy, sesame seeds, leafy greens
Warning Signs: See a Dentist
- Toothache or tooth sensitivity
- Bleeding gums (gingivitis or periodontitis)
- Loose teeth
- Bad breath that doesn’t resolve
- White or red patches in mouth
- Jaw pain
Preventive Dental Visits
See a dentist every 6 months for professional cleaning (scale and polish) and examination. Early detection and treatment of cavities is far less costly than complex restorations later.
