Vector-Borne Diseases

- Malaria: Anopheles mosquito bites at night. Prevent with mosquito nets, repellents
- Chikungunya: Same mosquito as dengue. Joint pain prominent
Waterborne Diseases

- Cholera: Contaminated water. Very rapid dehydration
- Hepatitis A and E: Contaminated water and food. Avoid roadside food during monsoon

- Drink only boiled or purified water (RO filtered)
- Avoid roadside food and cut fruits
- Eliminate stagnant water around home weekly
- Use mosquito repellents, nets, and full-sleeved clothing in evenings
- Wash hands frequently with soap
- Keep home dry – prevent mould
- Stay up to date with typhoid and hepatitis A vaccinations
